Sarah McLachlan at Murat Theatre

Why see Sarah McLachlan?

Fumbling Towards Ecstasy 30th Anniversary Tour!

A leading light of Canada's alternative rock scene, Sarah McLachlan was one of the most successful singer-songwriters of the 90s. While her 1989 debut Touch established her in her native land, it wasn't until 1993's Fumbling Towards Ecstasy that the rest of the world sat up and took notice. Its follow-up Surfacing proved to be an even bigger hit, eventually selling 16 million copies worldwide. It displayed a slower, more introspective side to McLachlan, with piano-led numbers like Angel marking her out as a lyricist of rare emotional candor and clarity. Catch her live on stage in summer 2024 as she celebrates 30 years of her debut, with special guests Allison Russell (Toronto) and Fiest (all other dates.)

Alongside her musical output, McLachlan also founded the Lillith Fair music festival which sought to redress the gender bias of rock tours by only featuring female acts. It was a huge success, out-selling the likes Coachella in the same year.

Couldn't keep us from it!

Started out that morning from des moines, Ia, by pushing the car out of garage, to be jumped. Then quick stop at walmart for new battery. And then back on the interstate andon our way. Just past pattonsburg The car dies and were out of gas. An hour later we get our $105 gallon of gas. Barely enough to get to the next exit, but we get there. And we have a little over an hour of driving to get to starlight. As we pull into the parking lot we hear Sarah start singing. It was the first song and we make our way to the second row and we proceed to have a wonderful night. It was an intimate night with Sarah, no one in the stands. Just the lower portion ,on purpose. And us in the second row. If we didnt get her attention that night, the orpheum is where we actually met her. But thats another story. But nothing could keep us from her at the starlight that time, and nothing will keep us from her show tonight. Cant wait to ,see you , feel you, hear you. You are a favorite. Hell or high water! ... Seeing Sara McLaughlin

I worked Sara ‘s concert at the Riverside Theatre I don’t remember, what 15 yrs ago ... it was so long ago ... being backstage elevator operator I was privileged to meet her and her drummer husband I recall... I just saw moments of the sold out show due to haveing to assure that stage crew and the like got to there floors on time Last night at BMO Harris Pavilion I saw McLaughlin s in full in the 8 th row almost center...I thought every song was just beautiful and she was wearing a beautiful long golden camona for lack of a better word ... she was just dazzlingly beautiful as with her voice. I felt emotionally touched by each song never mind the lyrics... she urged me to seek out her latest albums... and continue to support her. Well done Sara McLaughlin... each tour is a Welcome...!! ... Read more

Magical night with Sarah and MSO

Having been to a few of Sarah’s shows over the years, I truly believe she was in the best voice, and best place in life at last night’s show. Through her story telling of what inspired songs, sharing bits of herself, it was a very intimate setting. The MSO added to her music, and her own talented musicians- truly creating a memorable, beautiful night filled with gorgeous music. Congratulations Sarah, for sharing your voice and talents with many over the years - and still being at the top of your game! 51 is awesome! ... Read more
